It is a vocation, a calling from God. It is a sacred invitation to a closer walk with Jesus Christ by means of the life of prayer, service, love and devotion to the church. The Holy Spirit is the same as He was 2000 years ago, and we are convinced that God still calls men and women to make a generous gift of themselves in service to Him. We invite those who sense this call to join us in prayerful discernment of their vocation.

Serving HSECC is one of purest callings, marked by simple joyfulness in service to the Church and sacrificial love for others. It is a life that is Jesus-centered and Spirit-directed. It is a call to those who want to serve God’s people with humility, compassion and faithfulness.” Our ministry is not just our job or a paycheck, but we are to be living witnesses of the Gospel in prayer and community life and loving service, particularly to the poor and those most vulnerable.

In HSECC, Formation is also a journey with God. It is a slow and deliberate journey of praying attentively to the voice of God, developing the vocation He has instilled in one’s heart. This plan consists of Postulancy, Novitiate, Temporary Profession, and Continuing Formation, as various men make the effort to determine if they are called to exist a Perpetually Professed member. Throughout all this we become more confident in the God who journeys with us. We grow in our God-given gifts and personal qualities as we live out the life, spirit, and Gospel mission of HSECC — especially in service of the poor which is part of our heritage as a congregation.

The Congregation of HSECC is an apostolic religious community of priests, brothers & sisters. Members of HSECC work, pray, and live together in a shared religious life through the same history, vows, spirituality and mission. We are united through our love for Jesus and our longing to serve His Church well.

Our “yes” to Christ is fulfilled in the making of vows. These vows reflect our lifelong commitment to Christ forever through preaching, service and obedience (Constitutions of the Congregation of HSECC). These promises are not a weight, but the rejoicing answer to God’s love. They inform our day-to-day living and guide our ministry both in the Church and in the world.

Some God calls through the community to be priests. Alongside their consecration as religious, they are ordained to the priesthood for sacramental ministry, pastoral care, preaching and spiritual leadership. Others in Hsecc are invited to the vocation of brothers and sisters, devoting themselves to life in community, prayer and service of the Church. All three vocations are beautiful, meaningful and necessary to the life of the congregation.

Founded together with one another, as brothers, sisters and priests in a common life and common prayer for a common mission. We share fully in the life of the congregation and in our mutual labor to build the Kingdom of God. Together, we help one another, grow together and serve together as One Family in Christ.

HSECC welcomes all who are being called to a deeper life with God to come and discern along with us. And so to you, if deep down in your heart of hearts, you feel a longing to love Christ more fully, serve His people more generously, and share in a community of prayer and mission, perhaps God is calling.
